Improving the Quality of Maternal and Newborn Health with a Focus on Emergency Obstetrics and Newborn Care Services

Key Objective:

  • Overall: to improve the quality and availability of Emergency Obstetrics and Neonatal Care under the GIZ “Support to the Health Sector Programme” (S2HSP).
  • Improving the capacity of health service providers
  • Improving the quality of the management in district hospitals
  • Supporting referral networks

Project description: The project was implemented in 61 health facilities in 7 districts in the 3 target regions of Central, Mid-Western and Far Western Nepal with a focus on developing a “needs-based mentoring” and supportive supervision approach to improve Basic and Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care and skills and the referral system in the selected facilities.
