Establishment of a Hospital Twinning Partnership on the Improvement of Child Health Care

Key objectives:

  • Improve the diagnostic and therapeutic skills of various sub-specialities from OCMMCs and the Republican Centers in Tashkent in the pursuit of improving the quality of health services provided.
  • Consolidation of guidelines and standard operational procedures (SOP) existing in the country and relevant to pediatric care; update and adaptation of SOPs in the areas of neonatology and intensive care, pediatric radiology, physiotherapy, laboratory medicine, general paediatrics, general and minimally invasive pediatric surgery.
  • Development of a full training concept (development of a “longitudinal” curriculum, including not only the content of the training within different pediatric areas but also interdisciplinary collaboration and complementarity) for the clinical theoretical and “on-job” training.
  • Coordinated execution of the clinical training with the development of a monitoring system for regular feedback on the practical implementation of the SOPs and full utilization of the relevant medical equipment.
  • Network development and establishment of an Internet platform for support of communication and data management within the twinning partnership; participation in the Central Asian Pediatric Conference in 2015.

Project description: The project addressed clinical training measures and the establishment of a twinning partnership for Improvement of Child Health Care within the current “Reproductive Health and Mother-Child Care Health Program” of the “Financial Cooperation between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Uzbekistan (2012-2016)”.
